Ein weiterer strahlenblauer Tag erwartete mich heute Morgen als ich wie immer um 10:30 Uhr zum Frühstück ging und mich draussen auf die Terrasse setzte... Frühstück bis 11 Uhr ist nur einer der Pluspunkte dieses Hotels, vor allem für einen Spätaufsteher wie mich, und dann noch mit einer fantastischen Aussicht aufs Rote Meer! : )
 

Was ich überaus am Hurghada Marriott Red Sea Resort schätze ist, dass hier kein Weihnachtsrummel veranstaltet wird, einzig die Weihnachtsmützen der Kellner gestern erinnerten daran sonst war nirgends eine Dekoration zu sehen. Ich denke das hat auch mit den internationalen Gästen zu tun, die aus der ganzen Welt stammen. Genau nach meinem Geschmack, denn ich versuche schon seit Jahren diesem Kommerzevent zu entkommen indem ich in dieser Zeit immer verreise... natürlich ist das nicht der einzige Grund! : )
 

Another gloriously blue day was awaiting me this morning when I  went for breakfast at 10:30 am and I sat outside on the terrace like always here... Breakfast until 11 am is just one of the pluses of this hotel, especially for a late riser like me, in addition with the fantastic views of the Red Sea! : )

What I appreciate extremely of the Hurghada Marriott Red Sea Resort is that there was no Christmas rush, only the Santa hats the waiters were wearing yesterday reminded of it, but there was nowhere else a decoration to be seen. I think it has to do with the international guests who come from all over the world. That’s exactly to my taste, because I've been trying for years to get out of this commercial event that’s why I always travel at this time of the year... of course that's not the only reason! : )

Um 11:30 Uhr wie verabredet wartete Ahmed mit seinem Taxi draussen, wir luden meinen Golfbag ein und los ging es die halbe Stunde nach Makadi Bay zum Madinat Makadi Golfplatz. Dort erwartete mich schon Charlie, der Golflehrer, den ich vor 4 Jahren hier kennengelernt hatte. Was für ein Glück, dass er da war, denn er korrigierte mich so professionell, dass ich nach den ersten neuen Loch par und Birdies spielte! : ))
 

At 11:30 am as arranged Ahmed was waiting with his taxi outside, we loaded my golf bag on the back seat and off we went the half an hour to Makadi Bay to the Madinat Makadi Golf Course. There I met Charlie, the golf teacher I got to know here 4 years ago. What a chance that he was there because he corrected me so professionally that I played par and birdies after the first nine holes! : ))

Um 16:30 Uhr holte mich Ahmed wieder ab und wir fuhren mit dem Sonnenuntergang zurück nach Hurghada.
 

Zurück im Hotel verlängerte ich meine ursprüngliche Buchung um 5 Tage, da ich ja jetzt weiss, wann ich in die Wüste fahren werde... Zudem wechselte ich mein Zimmer, nun habe ich eines mit Sonne den ganzen Tag im 5. Stock (statt im 6.) - yeahhh, jetzt kann mein Urlaub beginnen! ; )
 

At 4:30 pm Ahmed picked me up and drove be back to Hurghada accompanied by a beautiful sunset.
 

Back at the hotel I extended my original booking to five days more, since I now know when I will be touring in the desert... In addition, I changed my room, now I have one with sun all day long on the 5th floor (instead of the 6th) - yeahhh, now my vacation can really start! ; )

Um 19:30 Uhr holte mich mein neuer Freund Ahmed der Taxifahrer ab und lud mich ins Fischrestaurant El Mina ein. Dort genossen wir erst einmal eine Palette von Vorspeisen und danach wurde noch ein 'kleiner' gegrillter Fisch serviert - absolut genial!
 

Als ich fragte, wann die Leute hier normalerweise essen, antwortete er ‘immer‘ und die grossen Restaurants haben 24 Stunden offen! Tja, da muss man sich wirklich überlegen wer wohl hier entwickelter ist...
 

At 7:30 pm my new friend Ahmed the taxi driver picked me up and invited me to the seafood restaurant El Mina. There we first enjoyed a range of starters and then a 'little' grilled fish was served - absolutely delicious!

When I asked him when people normally eat here, he answered 'always' and the big restaurants are open 24 hours! Well, we really need to consider who is better developed...

Den Schlummertrunk nahmen wir in Papas Bar in der neuen Marina ein, wo wir meinen andern Freund namens Ahmed trafen, den ich hier vor 4 Jahren kennenlernte und der hier in der Marina auf einem Tauchschiff arbeitet. - Wie schön sich hier bei diesen liebenswürdigen Menschen zuhause fühlen zu dürfen...

To round off the wonderful day we took a drink in Papas Bar in the new marina, where we met my other friend named Ahmed, who I got to know here 4 years ago and who works here in the marina on a dive boat. – How grateful I am to be and feel home with these kind people...
