Sha’ab – Sala‘a
Die Sonne
weckte uns etwas vor 8 Uhr, sie heizte das Zelt im Nu auf nach einer eher
kalten Nacht, vor der uns die vielen Decken und der windstille Ort geschützt hatten.
Wir begannen den Morgen mit Tee, Kaffee, Früchten, Brot, Käse, Honig und
Marmelade.
The sun woke us
up just before 8 am, it heated up the
tent in no time after a rather cold night, from which we were
protected by the many of the covers and the
windless place. We
started the morning with tea,
coffee, fruit, bread, cheese, honey and jam.

Darauf
säuberten wir alles Geschirr, Besteck, Pfannen und Töpfe... Marey habe sie seit
einem Jahr nicht mehr gebraucht, denn er hatte sehr viel Arbeit in seinen Camps
und als Oberhaupt von 500 Familien in einem Gebiet von 45'000 km2
(grösser als die Schweiz!)... Als Scheich nimmt er seine Verantwortung ernst
und will, dass es seinem Beduinenvolk gut geht und es nicht in die Städte
abwandert und in den Strassen verendet... Marey ist der oberste Herrscher,
Berater, Jurist, Psychologe, Arzt und Arbeitgeber in einem! Er freute sich
riesig endlich wieder einmal Ferien zu haben - 3 Tage einfach weg ohne erreichbar
zu sein! : )
Bis wir gemütlich gefrühstückt, unsere Morgentoilette gemacht, das Zelt zusammengepackt alles eingeräumt hatten war es 10:30 Uhr. Übrigens habe ich hier in der Wüste eine Dusche noch nie vermisst... die trockene Hitze fühlt sich nicht schmutzig an und mit Wasser und Cremen halte ich meinen Körper sauber...
Then we
cleaned all crockery, cutlery,
pots and pans... Marey had not used them for a
year because he had a lot of work
in his camps and as
chief of 500 families in an area of 45,000 km2
(larger than Switzerland!)... As a
sheikh he takes his responsibilities
seriously and wants that his
Bedouin people is well and won’t emigrate
to the cities and eventually end up
in the streets... Marey is the supreme ruler, consultant,
lawyer, psychologist, doctor and employer
in one! He was
delighted finally to have a
vacation - 3 days gone without being reachable! : )
By the time we slowly had had breakfast, made
our morning wash, packed
together the tent and everything else it was 10:30 am.
By the way, I've never missed a
shower here in the desert... the dry
heat does not feel dirty and with water and
creams I keep my body clean...

Weiter
ging es Richtung Nordwesten weiter in die Wüste hinein - ihre Schönheit
veranlasste mich ein Foto nach dem andern zu schiessen...
We continued further into the desert to the northwest
- its beauty made
me to shoot one photo after
another...

Nach
einer Stunde kamen wir bei den Quellen Shaila an, die wir nach 10 Minuten
Hochklettern erreichten.
After an hour we arrived at the sources Shaila, which we reached after 10 minutes climbing up.

Um 12:30 Uhr machten wir den nächsten Halt beim Bir Qattar, ein Brunnen und Beduinenfriedhof, wo Mareys Grossvater begraben liegt. Hier assen wir etwas zu Mittag. Mareys Grossvater war übrigens aus Saudi-Arabien hierhin eingewandert. Mareys Vater ist heute 92 und lebt in einer Oase, er hat 3 Frauen und das 13. Kind unterwegs! : ) Marey ist der älteste Sohn (eine Schwester ist älter), und daher wurden ihm der Titel und die Verantwortung als Scheich vererbt.
At noon we made the next stop at Bir Qattar, a fountain and Bedouin cemetery where Marey's grandfather is buried. Here we had lunch. By the way, Marey's grandfather immigrated from Saudi Arabia. Marey's father is now 92 and lives in an oasis, he has 3 wives and the 13th child on the way! : ) Marey is the eldest son (one sister is older), and hence he inherited the title and the responsibility of a sheikh.

Danach ging es Richtung Nordwesten tiefer in die Wüste hinein und in Sala'a mit atemberaubender Kulisse fanden wir den idealen Ort für das Nachtlager.
Then we drove deeper into the desert to the northwest and in Sala'a with a breathtaking scenery we found the ideal place to camp for the night.

Als wir das Zelt aufgestellt und alles was wir benötigten ausgepackt hatten, war es Zeit für einen Tee a la Marey. : ) Und dann begannen wir zu kochen... heute gab es vorab einen Tomaten-Gurken Salat mit Frischkäse und Oliven und als Hauptspeise Maccaroni Bolognaise und eine Gemüsepfanne - und das alles unter einem Himmel voller Sterne!

When we had set up the tent and everything we needed was unpacked, it was tea time a la Marey. : ) And then we started to cook... today we first had a tomato-cucumber salad with cream cheese and olives and as a main dish macaroni bolognaise and a vegetable stir-fry - and all under a sky full of stars!
